AI Testing Tools Compared (2026)

Playwright MCP, QA Wolf, Testim, and Autify. I've evaluated all four on client work — which is actually AI, which is a retainer trap, which fits a startup budget.

Playwright MCP — open source meets AI

The most interesting development in 2026. You take Playwright's mature open-source testing and layer MCP (Model Context Protocol) on top — letting AI agents drive the browser directly, read the DOM, and write .spec.ts files. The tests live in your repo, in your language. No vendor lock-in.

Caveat: A human still drives the agent. Flaky selectors, edge cases, business logic — human review required. Anyone selling you 10x is lying; the real number is ~3-4x.

QA Wolf — tam yönetilen, pahalı

QA Wolf is actually a service, not a tool. Their QA engineers + AI write and maintain tests for you. Pricing starts at $10k+/mo. Good if you want to fully outsource QA and have budget — but this is the same race as Testopius. They sell retainer, I sell fixed-price.

Caveat: The tests are in their format. If you leave, you start over. Black-box lock-in.

Testim & Autify — AI'lı no-code

Both are record-and-play SaaS platforms — they market AI self-healing selectors as the key differentiator. Testim has been around since 2019, Autify is stronger in APAC. Fine for teams that don't want to code, but vendor lock-in is real: tests live in their format, if you leave you have nothing.

My recommendation

If you're a startup in 2026: Playwright MCP. You own the tests, the tool is free, you get AI speed but keep control. If you want QA fully outsourced, QA Wolf or similar (but note: Testopius Automation Starter is $1,500 — QA Wolf is 2 months of that). If you want no-code, Testim/Autify — but you'll regret it when you scale. Vendor lock-in starts cheap and ends expensive.

Automation Starter: $1,500, 2 weeks, 20 critical-flow tests + MCP orchestration. You own the suite, no lock-in.
